FTP(File Transfer Protocol)<\/strong> is widely used standard tool for transferring files between a server and a client over a network.By default,FTP server is unsecure because it transmits user credentials and data without encryption<\/span><\/p>\n

Here, we discussed about the installation and configuration of secure FTP server \u2013 VSFTP<\/span><\/p>\n

Note :<\/strong>– By running all the commands in this tutorial,you need root<\/strong> privilage <\/span><\/p>\n

Step-1: Installing Secure FTP server.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Installing vsftpd server byrunning the below command<\/span><\/p>\n

yum install vsftpd<\/span><\/p>\n

Step-2: Start and Enable service<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Installation process has completed,Service will be disabled first,So we need to startand enable it manually by running the below command<\/span><\/p>\n

systemctl start vsftpd<\/span><\/p>\n

systemctl enable vsftpd<\/span><\/p>\n

Step-3: Allow FTP port number on Firewall<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

To allow port number 21 by running below command<\/span><\/p>\n

firewall-cmd –zone=public \u2013permanent \u2013add-port=21\/tcp<\/span><\/p>\n

To allow Ftp service by running below command <\/span><\/p>\n

firewall-cmd \u2013zone=public \u2013permanent \u2013add-service=ftp<\/span><\/p>\n

Once allowed the services,services will reload to activate your services<\/span><\/p>\n

firewall-cmd \u2013reload<\/span><\/p>\n

Step-4: Configuring FTP server<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

To edit the configuration file,Configuration file path is as below<\/span><\/p>\n

you can edit the configuration file like as <\/span><\/p>\n

anonymous_enable=NO<\/span><\/p>\n

local_enable=YES<\/span><\/p>\n

write_enable=YES<\/span><\/p>\n

Step-5: Restart the serivce<\/strong><\/p>\n

Now, you can restart the services<\/span><\/p>\n

systemctl restart vsftpd<\/span><\/p>\n
